How a visit works

Check-in, approval, on site

1

Guest arrives

Visitor uses the Whitney Guests kiosk at the front desk to start check-in.

2

Host approves

The host gets notified and can approve or decline the visit.

3

Badge & on site

Badge printing, documents, and a record of who is on site — with optional visit-status texts if the visitor opted in.

Text message notifications

Visit-status texts, only with the visitor's consent

Whitney Guests can text a visitor when their host approves or declines the visit. Visitors opt in themselves at the check-in kiosk.

How visitors opt in

  1. The visitor checks in on the Whitney Guests kiosk, an iPad at the front desk of the organization they are visiting.
  2. They may optionally type their own mobile number. Doing so reveals a consent checkbox labeled "Text me updates about this visit", unchecked by default.
  3. The checkbox is shown with the disclosure: "Whitney Guests sends 1-2 messages per visit. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
  4. A number receives texts only if the visitor personally entered it and checked the box. After opting in, the visitor receives a one-time confirmation text.
